Brownsville is considered one of the most cost-efficient places to live, in large part because of its affordable housing opportunities. Brownsville offers residents an array of housing options from contemporary apartments and condominiums to custom-tailored single-family homes of varying price ranges.
The city offers a safe and peaceful community with many “resacas” (reservoirs) that add to the beautiful landscape, which comprises a plethora of dazzling palm trees, flowers, and hundreds of plant species that have turned neighborhoods into a tropical paradise.
Whether you like modern design, or Mexican and Spanish influenced architecture, or perhaps you prefer the colonial style homes in Brownsville’s historic neighborhoods, the city has exceptional architects, builders, and realtors that can assist you in your search for the ideal, affordable home.
Like the rest of the nation, Brownsville was not exempt from the effects of the housing market crash. However, both Brownsville and the state of Texas were affected to a much lesser degree than many other cities and states.
According to a new report from the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University, single-family home sales in Texas during the fourth quarter of 2009 rose 16% from the same quarter of 2008. In Brownsville, between the first and fourth quarters of 2009, home sales showed a 10% increase.
Furthermore, 2010 points to a brighter year as we see an increase in home sales for the months of January and February compared to those of the same months last year and compared to homes sales at the end of year 2009.
